Episode 21: Pariah

*Disclaimer/Trigger Warning: The word ‘queer’ is used frequently in this episode and is used as a term of identification and orientation, both in the context of discussing the film and because both of your podcasters identify as big ole queers. The term ‘dyke’ is used multiple times in this episode in context of the film. The term is used in the film both as a slur and as a term of identification and orientation.

You’re also in a space where Black Lives Matter, so if you don’t share that sentiment, you’re gonna have a bad time (what the fuck are you doing here anyway?). This episode in particular celebrates Black queer artists and the Black queer experience in general.

Join Lisha and Juliet as they review the baby budget/huge impact indie film, 2011’s Pariah! Put on the kettle or pop a piece of Big Red gum and join the gals as they worship the ground that Adepero Oduye walks on, listen to Juliet as she sings praises to Bradford Young and his wicked light sorcery, and get ready for yet another psychological character study thesis from Lisha (c’mon, you know you love it). It’s Pride month, y’all, so get ready also for a Reel Question and discussion about meaningful LGBTQ films and television (of which Lisha and Jules have MANY to discuss…shocker, right?). SO. Strap in (on? Alike, girl, no, Laura, what did you do), grab your drink of choice, and get sippin’!

Update (Episode delay)

Heya, folks!

Lisha and Jules had some completely, totally and utterly foreseen circumstances come up this week (ha!) and they are all out of whack. Therefore, this week’s episode covering 2011’s Pariah will be delayed. Rather than being posted on Thursday 6/25, episode 21 will go live on Saturday, 6/27.

Thanks for your patience and we’ll see y’all reel soon! (I’ll stop now, I promise, Kevin bless!)

Episode 20: Tropic Thunder

Welcome to Screen Tea Podcast! Join Lisha and Juliet as they review the movie within a movie, Tropic Thunder…within their podcast! (See what we did there?) Listen as they (naturally) croon over the star power of RDJ (and Jack Black, because every movie needs a character who hates movies front and center), scratch their heads over how hard Ben Stiller dropped the ball with Simple Jack (why, dude), and give credit where credit is due (btw, all of the credit goes to Alpa, Kevin, and the glorious soundtrack). Also, ALSO, brew yourself some tea or grab a cup of warm, blood-flavored corn syrup to tune into the once in a lifetime opportunity to hear Lisha say something NICE about Tom Cruise! That’s right…one time only, you limp dick fuckups 😉

Secure your zombie or grab your head-coffin and listen in as Lisha tries to figure out what the actual hap is fuckening (no, really, she has no idea what this movie is), Juliet salivates over production design, and the ladies lament over how awful Bill is, we mean it, Fido, go get ‘im boy, bite his stupid face off!

Welcome to Screen Tea Podcast! Join Lisha and Juliet as they traverse through Trauma Street, located this time around in good ‘ole South Boston, aka Lisha’s favorite film backdrop! From basically agreeing that this ensemble of actors did everything right (if you don’t agree that Laurence Fishburne makes every movie better, who even are you?), wondering what the fuck was up with Sean’s character in general, and deciding that Love Actually is essentially a sidequest to this joyful little flick (thanks Laura Linney), pull out your lager and get to sippin’ with the ladies for this week’s episode!
