Episode 29 Delay

Hi, folks. Episode 29 (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) will be temporarily delayed, air date TBD.

We know that our hearts wouldn’t be in it if we went ahead and recorded as scheduled. Not right now, not yet. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Chadwick Boseman, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, the Marvel family, and all of you who are struggling with the loss of a real-life hero along with us. May he Rest in Power 🖤

Thank you all for your understanding, and we’ll be seeing you soon enough.

– Lisha & Jules

Episode 28: You Can Count On Me

Welcome to Screen Tea Podcast! Jump on a bus and head to the small town of Ridiculous Podcasters, because this week Lisha and Jules are covering Kenneth Lonergan’s directorial debut, 2000’s You Can Count on Me! Let us all sit down for a mildly (wildly?) uncomfortable lunch together while Lisha spirals down a pit of Lonergan-dialogue obsession, Jules fights tooth and nail to pronounce ANYTHING related to the damn DIRECTOR of the film, and both of them cock their heads in confusion over Brian (seriously, what the fuck?). Actually, if you just want to grab some more refreshments, actually, and prepare yourself for some Mark Ruffalo, Laura Linney and Rory Culkin adoration, all you have to do is settle in and hit play…actually.

Episode 27: Jojo Rabbit

Get ready to hunt some carrots with Lisha and Jules this week as they review the brilliant Taika Waititi’s 2019 genre-bending war/dramedy/satire, Jojo Rabbit! Lend the ladies your ears as Lisha simultaneously giggles and holds back sobs over the brilliance of Waititi’s use of foreshadowing and handle on female characters, as Jules breaks character to get her feelings all over the place (namely regarding Sam Rockwell, those gut-punch moments, and the CHILDREN), and as both of your podcasters trip over themselves cracking up over the physical comedy of Taika and Alfie Allen (truly, the hidden gem of this treasure of a film). Whip up your beverage of choice, pull your chair up to the table, and let’s get to dancin’, shall we?

Episode 26: Pan’s Labyrinth

Draw yourself a chalk door and crawl into a world of horrific fantasy this week as Lisha and Jules delight over Lisha’s favorite film of all time, Guillermo del Toro’s 2006 masterpiece Pan’s Labyrinth! Grab a seat at the table (but don’t touch the grapes!) and listen to Lisha get teary eyed over the character alignments of mythical creatures and asshole fascists, Jules fawns over the faun, and both ladies lament over how Ofelia is just the epitome of A GOOD LITTLE GIRL WHO DESERVES TO BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. Also, listen up; if you’ve ever wondered just how you’re supposed to take that ending (is she a princess? is she a traumatized as hell little girl with super awesome-yet-terrifying imaginary friends?), we have the answer for you, children!

Episode 23: Up In The Air

Welcome to Screen Tea Podcast! Check your bags and take the middle seat between Lisha and Jules as they review Jason Reitman’s 2009 film Up in the Air! It was Jules’ pick this week, and it’ll be easy to hear why as you listen to her squeak over Anna Kendrick…though to be fair, there’s a lot of praise happening over just about everything in this week’s episode. From Lisha getting really, really deep with her character analysis of Ryan (is he or ISN’T he a total twat?), the gals losing it over a-mazing cinematography, and a mutual outpouring of love over the ever formidable Vera Farmiga, pour yourself some (hopefully not black licorice flavored) tea or crack open a can, sir, and come fly with us.

Episode 22: Just Like Heaven

Welcome to Screen Tea Podcast! Snuggle into your own lil cloud and tune in as Lisha and Jules change the pace, because this week they’re reviewing a…romcom? And LISHA chose it?! What fuckery is this. Anywhoo, join the gals as they cover 2005’s Just Like Heaven, which of course includes Lisha crooning over Mark Ruffalo (but for legitimate reasons, she promises!), Juliet ripping apart every possible logical fallacy, and both of these idiots being baffled over how bad even decent romcom dialogue can be (you did your best, but you’re still a cheesy movie, movie). Grab a beer (David!), find a comfy couch (preferably a red, squishy one), and get cozy for one trash fire of an episode!

Episode 21: Pariah

*Disclaimer/Trigger Warning: The word ‘queer’ is used frequently in this episode and is used as a term of identification and orientation, both in the context of discussing the film and because both of your podcasters identify as big ole queers. The term ‘dyke’ is used multiple times in this episode in context of the film. The term is used in the film both as a slur and as a term of identification and orientation.

You’re also in a space where Black Lives Matter, so if you don’t share that sentiment, you’re gonna have a bad time (what the fuck are you doing here anyway?). This episode in particular celebrates Black queer artists and the Black queer experience in general.

Join Lisha and Juliet as they review the baby budget/huge impact indie film, 2011’s Pariah! Put on the kettle or pop a piece of Big Red gum and join the gals as they worship the ground that Adepero Oduye walks on, listen to Juliet as she sings praises to Bradford Young and his wicked light sorcery, and get ready for yet another psychological character study thesis from Lisha (c’mon, you know you love it). It’s Pride month, y’all, so get ready also for a Reel Question and discussion about meaningful LGBTQ films and television (of which Lisha and Jules have MANY to discuss…shocker, right?). SO. Strap in (on? Alike, girl, no, Laura, what did you do), grab your drink of choice, and get sippin’!

Update (Episode delay)

Heya, folks!

Lisha and Jules had some completely, totally and utterly foreseen circumstances come up this week (ha!) and they are all out of whack. Therefore, this week’s episode covering 2011’s Pariah will be delayed. Rather than being posted on Thursday 6/25, episode 21 will go live on Saturday, 6/27.

Thanks for your patience and we’ll see y’all reel soon! (I’ll stop now, I promise, Kevin bless!)
